We Say, You Say - Kelly Brook

Under the style microscope today - a newly single Kelly Brook in LA

Kelly_brook

We Say...

The ever-beautiful Kelly Brook seems to have taken Farrah Fawcett as her inspiration for this outfit - note the big hair, checked shirt, high-waist and flared jeans. She gets points for working this season's checked trend, but we're not sure the jeans do her amazing figure justice - sure, they compliment her tiny waist, but they also emphasise her curvy hips. Flares work well on curvy figures though, and the kick on this pair goes some way to balance her out. All in all a good outfit - we still reckon Billy Zane must be gutted to have let this one get away...

You Say...

Lauren_lane_2 Lauren Lane, 29, Yummy Mummy from Manchester

This outfit is cool, relaxed and easy to wear. Kelly looks great in her check shirt and high-waisted jeans combo, with peep toe heels giving her extra height and making her legs look even longer. The checked shirt balances out Kelly’s hips really well and the clutch bag gives the outfit a more dressed up feel, perfect for lunch in the sunshine (note the fab shades!). Kelly is a great role model as she makes clothes work for her curvaceous figure where others sometimes fail, showing that even some tricky trends can be worn whatever your shape.

We Say, You Say - Heidi Montag

Under the style microscope today - Heidi Montag on The Letterman Show

Heidi_montag

We Say...

When it comes to the girls of The Hills, we will always be Team Conrad. However, if Lauren can put her and Heidi's differences aside for the front cover of Rolling Stone, then so can we. And we're glad we have, otherwise we might have missed this, quite frankly, beautifully feminine lace trimmed dress. It's so very pretty that it's almost a shame Heidi's paired it with a deep tan and shiny golden ringlets - we'd like to see it with free-flowing hair and an English rose complexion. Still, that's Heidi, and she works her look well - we especially like those gold lace-up sandals...

You Say...

Aimee_koucha_2Aimee Koucha, 17, Student from High Wycombe

Heidi Montag takes a step up from her usual casual attire on The Hills here in this amazing dress. The lace detail adds a great feminine touch and makes this a perfect choice for spring. Heidi is bang on trend with her cut out detail heels which draw attention to her gorgeous bronzed legs. A simpler hairstyle may have complimented the dress better, but overall this outfit is a definite thumbs up for me!

We Say, You Say - Ashley Olsen

It's back! Due to popular demand, today marks the return of our 'We Say, You Say' feature - where you get the chance to sound off on a celebrity's fashion choices. If you'd like to have your say, see the details at the end of the feature on how to get in touch. And without further ado, it's on to this week's celeb under scrutiny...

Under the style microscope today - Ashley Olsen at Paris Fashion Week

Ashley_olsen

We Say...

We had to look long and hard at this picture just to make sure it was actually Ashley O and not identical twin Mary-Kate, as the shabby chic look she's sporting is one we'd usually associate with MK. Having satisfied ourselves that it was in fact Ashley, we then moved on to longing for pins skinny enough to pull off leather trousers. No mean feat, but Ashley does it with her usual style. The platform sandals are classic Olsen (they are, after all, a tiny 5'1") and she gets away with the grey slouchy grey dress due to her small frame. Now, how do we get our hair to wave like that..?

You Say...

KirstyKirsty Blades, 18, Art Student from Manchester

I hold Ashley Olsen in high regard for her trend setting – and this outfit doesn’t lack her usual effortless glam. Having recently returned from Paris shows myself, its obvious Ashley isn’t conforming to the typical Parisian style that so many show attendees were keen to imitate. Ashley’s got the figure to pull off the skinny leathers and, although the Yves Saint Laurent heels are a little out of most girl’s budgets, the oversized clutch, sunglasses, trademark large ring and head scarf make this outfit an inspiring and manageable one. I just hope her trousers don’t stick to her chair having sat watching the shows for too long!

We Say, You Say - Elen Rives

Under the fashion microscope this week - Elen Rives on her way to the Amanda Wakeley show at London Fashion Week

Elen_rives

We Say

Not a bad effort from Mrs. Frank Lampard-to-be - and, can we just say, we're most impressed that she managed to bag herself a fashion week ticket. The outfit qualifies her as a front-rower though, proving she knows a thing or two about fashion - the belt and oversize clutch bag (which we adore) are very much of-the-season. Her shoes are great too, adding some shine and much needed height to the miniscule madam's look. We're not sure about the different shades of purple though - doesn't quite work for us. Still, it's a darn sight better than what we imagine some other WAGs would wear for such an event. Well done, lady.

You Say

Kirsty Issatt, 18, Administrator from York

I know what you’re all thinking; she makes it look sooo easy!  I almost chocked on my skinny latte when I saw this picture - how beautiful and effortlessly glam does Elen look?  The colours are fantastic and really compliment each other; from the simple skinny jeans to the comfy top with waist belt (so very this season) she looks every inch the well-polished and glamorous fashionista. Speaking of inches, I'm LOVING the platform shoes. Just how does she do it? I'm sure that footballer's pay cheque probably helps...

We Say, You Say - Jessica Alba

Under the fashion micrsoscope this week - Jessica Alba taking a break from filming her new movie in Canada

Jessica_alba

We Say

It's no wonder Jessica Alba is consistently voted the sexiest woman in the world when she's able to look this good slumped on a bollard. She's a master at taking the most basic items - in this case a vest top, grey cardigan and faded jeans - and making them look a million dollars. She achieves this with long glossy locks, ultra-cool aviators, and great oversize bag and the whitest of Hollywood smiles. And a girl that loves her Converse? She's won our vote...

You Say

Daria Daria Wilcocks, 19, Gap Year Student from Leeds

Well I'm sorry to disappoint you ladies but Jessica's managed to look perfect (as always) in a simple jeans and cardi combo. Cue bright red hold-all bag for a sexy impact and now we see why no man can resist her! At the same time she's bang up to date on the style front looking altogether peachy in flared jeans, slouchy 'borrowed-from-the-boyfriend' cardigan and retro style sunglasses to pull together the look. Me? Jealous?...

We Say, You Say - Nicole Richie

Under the fashion microscope this week - Nicole Richie at the Fashion Rocks Concert in New York

Nicole_richie

We Say

Nicole Richie is clearly not about to let her pregnancy get in the way of looking absolutely stunning - she's been successful so far in dressing to complement her growing bump, and this outfit is no exception. The maxi dress is a look Gwen Stefani worked to stunning effect during her pregnancy last year, and Nicole has clearly taken a leaf from her book. The pose is all-Nicole however - hand on hip, jutting shoulder and sultry smirk. The pattern is a clever choice, taking the focus off her belly, and the keyhole draws the attention to her chest. Be in no doubt - Nicole is a style icon first and a mum-to-be second. Love it.

You Say

Paul Paul Pixton, 24, Advertising Agency PA from London

One word - wow! Even with her recent troubles, La Ritchie still knows how to scrub up amazingly for those red carpet events and this one is no exception. I'm loving the long flowing look of her frock and the way she has cleverly accentuated her cleavage shows that even the skinniest of minnies can cheat a little and give themselves a shapely figure with the right dress shape and clever colouring. Those chunky ghetto-gold bracelets are so on trend right now and complement the black & white print and her glossy blonde locks to perfection.

We Say, You Say - Alexa Chung

Under the fashion microscope this week - Alexa Chung at the Paul & Joe party on Wednesday

Alexa_chung

We say

It may have been RIP Popworld on Sunday with the last ever installment screening, but Alexa certainly isn't letting the emotion of it all interfere with her fashionability. This outfit reminds us of this season's Chloé collection, with the block colour high-waist skirt and tucked-in simply cut tee. If we were her stylist we'd have made her take that jacket off though - is her next job office-based? We'd have suggested adding a splash of colour too, perhaps on the belt, but if the aim was to establish herself as a bona fide "grown-up", then this outfit's done the job.

You say

Elizabeth Elizabeth Rushton, 21, Admin Manager from Manchester

Usually known for her skinny jean-wearing indie style, with this outfit Alexa proves that she can pull off understated glam. My attention is drawn to the accessorising; I love the mix of pearl, gold and diamante necklaces. Although the high-waist is still very much 'in', I think that the skirt could have been a bit more flattering as it makes her upper body look a little broad. Overall I think this outfit is a giant stylish step forward for Alexa.

We Say, You Say - Rachel Stevens

Under the fashion microscope this week - Rachel Stevens at the Bourne Supremecy premiere in London

Rachel_stevens_3

We Say

We're not quite sure what we make of this. The colour is great on her, and really compliments her sunkissed skin (been on your hols, Rach?). However, the draped sections either side add bulk to her hips and the neckline certainly doesn't make the most of what we know is a great bust. As for the shoes - we weren't sure about the colour at first, but on second consideration we quite like the contrast of the pale pink - we would have preferred some round toe heels though. Beauty-wise, she gets it bang on - the black nail varnish works well against the blue of the dress, and a light dusting of blusher and a couple of coats of mascara are all she needs to make her look stunning, especially with everything else going on.

You Say

Lynsey Lynsey Lowthian, 30, Medical Secretary from Sunderland

This outfit is a lesson in effortless elegance. Rachel mixes key styles; there's the ever popular Grecian style dress and in my colour of the moment, midnight blue - for me, this hue screams sophistication (it's a great alternative to black) and can be glammed up further with a few pieces of silver jewellery - though Rachel chooses to wear her bling on her clutch bag. In addition she's kept her cute T-bar shoes nude, which elongates her legs. All in all I like this a lot - this S Clubber has certainly grown up!

We Say, You Say - Kylie Minogue

Under the fashion microscope this week - Kylie at her 20th Anniversary Celebrations

Kylies_20th_anniversary_celebration

We say -

Kylie does a Marilyn - and we love it! The Aussie poppet rarely gets it wrong when it comes to occasion wear (with friends that include the likes of Dolce and Gabbana, we should think not!) as this stunning frock proves. The ruching at the chest creates the illusion of a full bust and the metallic waist section is very on-trend, whilst the strappy heels (you can just about see them through the dress) add some much needed height, essential when wearing a full-length dress, and the curls piled on top are fun - something she seems to be having plenty of, judging from the massive grin on her face. Happy anniversary to you, Ms. Minogue.

You say -

Liz Liz Greaney, 27, Freelance Newspaper Reporter from Tralee, County Derry

It's great to see Kylie back in the goddess style she seems to love. She wore a similar Grecian-style gown to her birthday party a few years back, so she knows she looks heavenly in this style. With radiant skin, beautiful blonde locks and a dress that makes the most of her petite hot bod, a certain Mr. Martinez must wonder how he could have let this gorgeous girl slip out of his hands. More of the same please, Kyles!

We Say, You Say - Tara Palmer-Tomkinson

Under the fashion microscope this week - Tara Palmer-Tomkinson leaving The Ivy, London

Tara_palmer_tomkinson

We say -

Love it. TPT has been known to get it wrong in the past, but this outfit totally works. She ensures she balances out an über-short skirt by covering up on top, the colour is a.m.a.z.i.n.g and she's got those shoes - the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Mary Janes, as loved by Victoria Beckham, Gwen Stefani and pretty much everyone here in the office. And she accessories with a couple of Selfridges bags - the girl's got style (or money - it's not necessarily the same thing, remember!). The only things I'd recommend leaving at home are the sunglasses - it's approximately 11pm, love.

You say -

Sarah Sarah Woollett, 24, Financial Controller from London

I really, really love the colour of this dress - I've read that purple is going to be big next season, and this shade suits her well. But whilst I'm all for working the new trends before they touch down - a polo neck? In August? Even if it has been raining, it's still pretty warm - she must have been sticky. She's still smiling though, and with a pair of legs like that - emphasised by a pair of killer black patent heels - I would be too. Not bad at all.

We Say, You Say - Gisele Bundchen

Under the fashion microscope this week - Gisele Bundchen enjoying her 27th birthday in the New York sunshine

Gisele_bundchen

We say -

Once we'd managed to pick our jaw off the floor and stop staring at those incredible legs, the first question we asked ourselves was "is that Kate Moss?". But no, it's simply Gisele Bundchen seemingly channelling her fellow supermodel. Whilst there's nothing necessarily wrong with this look (in fact, it's very well put together), it is a tad on the unadventurous side, especially seeing as though it was the Brazilian beauty's birthday - maybe it's just us, but on our birthday we want the world and his dog to notice at us. Still, it's s a great, simple outfit that shows of her stunning figure to perfection (although it's hard to go wrong in a classic jersey dress), and we're big fans of that lovely tan leather bag.

You say -

Trisha Trisha Varu, 25, Drug Safety Scientist from Clapham

I can't fault this outfit at all  - I love it and think it's just perfect. Simple, stylish and incredibly sexy, it's non-fussy yet makes an impact (well, with a body like that it would be hard not to). Her scoop-neck dress, pumps and low-slung belt are effortless, whilst the oversize black sunglasses and big, glossy waves keep things polished. She looks stunning - happy birthday to you, Gisele!

We Say, You Say - Kate Middleton

Under the fashion microscope this week - Kate Middleton at Mahiki last night

Kate_middleton

We Say -

Miss M may have reunited with her royal beau, but this time round she's thrown caution to the fashion wind, finally dumping those tweeds and pearls for a look that suits her age. In a perfect ensemble for cocktails at London hot spot Mahiki, Kate looks youthful, just edgy enough and glamorous - without ever straying into tarty territory. Not only that, but she's bang on autumn/winter 2007s trend for out sized crystals and dresses smothered in sequins, as seen at Dolce and Gabbana and Alberta Ferretti. A shining example.

You Say -

Helsy_3Helen Johnson, 24, Publishing Assistant from Norwich

Kate Middleton certainly has the figure to pull this dress off, and it can't be denied that she looks dazzling (although this may be the effect of the flash reflecting in the copious amount of sequins). The ribbon nips the dress in nicely at the waist to create a flattering and feminine shape, which along with her trademark glossy hair and smile fit for a queen almost completes the outfit. If only she'd left her pal with the stonewashed denim jacket, circa 1990, at home!

We Say, You Say - Rachel Bilson

Under the fashion microscope this week - Rachel Bilson shopping in LA

Rachel_bilson

We Say -

A Hollywood starlet not completely over-styled and pouting for the paps - how refreshing. She may not make the fashion pages as often as her OC pal Mischa Barton, but Rachel Bilson proves she is just as fashion savvy in this great outfit. The navy jersey dress is stunning in it's simplicity, with the gentle draping at the bust creating a flattering shape. The big sunglasses, oversized designer bag and wide belt add just enough polish to keep her from looking too casual. Some people might say it verges on boring - we say Rachel epitomises casual cool.

You Say -

Frances

Frances Matthews, 24, Geography Teacher, Teesside

Rachel Bilson shows us she is the Queen of Laid Back Chic in this outfit. This girl knows how to combine comfort with understated glamour and makes sure she never blends into the background. It goes to show what a difference a belt around the waist, oversized sunglasses and that all important 'It' bag can do to a simple summer dress. This outfit also shows that you do not have to drape yourself in this season's accessories to look up-to-date and part of the fashion pack. All in all this is the perfect outfit for looking glam in the city.

We Say, You Say - Emma Watson @ Harry Potter UK Premiere

"We Say, You Say" is a new weekly blog feature that gives you the opportunity to prove your fashion credentials and comment on a celebrity's choice of outfit on the ASOS.com Blog! Every week we'll feature a new picture of a celeb - then we'll say what we think of it and you get to say what you think of it - simple! If you'd like the chance to write for this section of the blog, drop us a line on blog@asos.com stating your name, age, occupation and location and we'll get back to you soon. This week's inaugural "We Say, You Say" starlet is Emma Watson...

Emma_watson_2

We Say - Yes, it’s Hermione from Harry Potter. Or rather Emma Watson, a name we predict will be hot news in the not so distant future. Having matured in the full glare of the public eye, Emma’s fashion sense could have strayed down the “I-Don’t-Give-A-Damn-How-I-Look-I’ll-Wear-Sweatpants-And-A-Tatty-Tee-If-I-Like” route à la one Ms. Church – praise be then that the 17-year old actress appears to be developing into one wizard dresser. Whilst we’re not sure about the odd tasselled detailing and strange strap-like-things on this dress, the colour is great on her - top marks for mixing things up in flattering navy rather than black - and the puffball shape is quite simply AMAZING, revealing just enough of what are a great pair of legs. A pair of jewelled strappy heels would have given the outfit extra oomph, but we’ll forgive her that. She’s a beautiful girl with a bright future ahead of her – and we’ll definitely be keeping our fashion eye on her.

Lyds You Say -

Lydia Rushton, 22, Events Manager and ASOS.com Blog Reader, London

Miss Watson appears to have swapped the old dull wizardry robes for a truly spectacular puffball dress. The deep blue frock and matching court shoes suits the young star's colouring, drawing on her golden tresses and accentuating her small frame. The waist detail, straps and chunky ring add pretty detail to what could have been just another boring strapless dress. I think her outfit makes a fantastic statement - she no longer wants to be seen a frizzy-haired Hermione. With a dress like this Emma will definitely cast a spell over many admiring gents; she's an up and coming fashionista worth watching.
