ASOS Wears...

This Week's Fashionista - Ellie Ward, Assistant Buyer, Women's Tops

Ellie_w_4

Having won the "Best Dressed" award at the ASOS.com summer party, it's no surprise to hear that Ellie's unique style is envied throughout the office. Her skill lies in her ability to take the simplest of items and put them together in a winning way. Take this outfit for example - the black scoop neck top, black tights and woven tan belt are all wardrobe basics. She adds a fashion-forward edge with a denim high-waisted skirt and finishes the look with a great pair of knee-high boots (essential footwear this winter), plenty of silver bangles and her trademark full, glossy fringe. Her top tip of the season? “Nail polish” she says. “It’s the easiest way of updating your look without forking out loads – I’m wearing Nails Inc's China Town at the moment”. One thing’s for sure, she's putting up one hell of a fight in defence of her title.

ASOS Wears...

This Week's Fashionista - Jenny Stafford, Buyer's Admin Assistant, Menswear

As part of the ultra-hardworking menswear department, ASOS.com's resident netball coach and one of a gaggle of northerners in the company, Jenny's style is fashion-forward yet has a definite air of functionality. This outfit is a perfect example of this. The dress (from a vintage fair, if you're wondering) is a great shade of grey, the neutral colour this season, and which she can wear such a light shade of thanks to her dark colouring. She cinches the waist and adds a flattering dash of colour with a bright pink belt, ticking the "block colour" trend box with one fell swoop. With the weather on the turn, Jen opts for practical matching boots and a bag in a slightly darker grey to add depth to the outfit, and finishes the look with a touch of subtle bling in the form of a silver watch and ring. Understated yet incredibly effective.

This Week's Fashionista - Laura Southern, Buyer's Assistant (Accessories)

Laura_southern_2

Having worked at ASOS.com for a year and a half, Laura is always one step ahead of the fashion crowd, and she's already working next season's trends as this outfit demonstrates. The gamine-meets-Victoriana look is set to be big news, and she pulls it off to perfection in a simple black shift dress worn over a pussy bow blouse - such a key item, and so very versatile. The sequinned headband in her hair (you can't quite see it in the picture, but trust us, it's there) adds a circus girl element to the look, but she veers away from trend overkill by adding her own modern touch with a chunky gold bracelet and ring. The nature of her job finds her running here, there and everywhere (you'll hear her distinct giggle emanating from the farthest flung corners of the ASOS.com office) and working long hours, so she chooses practical flats for her feet but keeps them patent, in keeping with next season's love of all things shiny. All in all a true fashionista - we'll be investing in our very own pussy bow blouse just as soon as we finish this post...

ASOS' Angels

ASOS.com's junior graphic designer Neha Prashar, 23, has impeccable fashion credentials, having joined us fresh from the design department at Chanel. For laid back daytime office chic she dons her favourite Miss Sixty jeans and All Saints leather jackets (she's always the first to try on any new ones that land in the office). For evening she opts for O.P.I nail polish and a so-very-now colour block dress, like this one picked up in Milan. Her accessories also hail from exotic locations - her Guess watch was a recent purchase in Dubai and her scarf the result of a jaunt to Miami. Neha's latest ASOS.com purchases include copious amounts of bangles (she has an unhealthy addiction), jewel platform shoes and the sexy v-back knotted top. A true fashion star.

We Work in Fashion, Darling! Behind the Scenes at ASOS.com...

It's the question absolutely everybody asks when we tell them we work in fashion - "ooh...is everyone in your office über-cool?".

"Oh, yes" is our standard reply. "It's trés Devil Wears Prada - we spend our days dressed like we stepped straight out of Vogue, swigging champagne and practising our model-like strut".

Well, that may be a slight misrepresentation (apart from the champers - we're partial to a glass or two of bubbly),  but we like to think most of the time we don't look half bad. Dare we say good? We let you be the judge in this new regular blog feature, giving you a behind the scenes peak at the ASOS.com wardrobes...

This week's fashionista: Sarah, 24, Advertising Sales

Sarah_2

Sarah is one of those people who always has the girls in office green with envy when she sweeps into work looking effortlessly stylish day after day after bloomin' day (we're not jealous in the slightest...). This is an archetypal outfit from the fiery-haired beauty - sheer floral blouse teamed with black skinny jeans and a pair of jelly shoes, this season's nostalgic footwear trend ("they're holey, so my feet keep getting soaked at the moment, but it's worth it as they're soo very comfy" she says). Some great accessories finish the look - an oversized designer bag (natch) - this one is Mulberry - with rings from Lola Rose, a watch from Black Dice and a charity shop find strawberry pendant. Love it.
