Last night saw the MTV European Music Awards take place in Munich, hosted by the Dogfather himself, Snoop Dogg (promotional material for the event included a billboard featuring a picture of Snoop in the back of a limo wearing lederhosen - whoever thought of that is an absolute genius!). Despite not tending to draw as star-studded a crowd as the event's big sister, the MTV Awards in America, a splattering of celebs turned out to party. Spotted on the lilac carpet was Joss Stone, who continues to surprise us with her toned down, not-so-loony outfits - last night's choice included a super-short sequin mini skirt paired with a cream shirt, blinging gold necklace and (perhaps in a tribute to the host) braided hair. Joining Joss on the carpet was school girl-turned-supermodel Lily Cole, who wore a simple long black dress with towering heels and her very best model pout.
Inside the event, former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and Amy Winehouse were on hand to add some star status to the show. Nicole took to the stage to perform with will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas in a sizzling pink minidress, whilst Amy worked what seems to be a newly-emerging trend - rockabilly. Wearing a great denim mini dress with a black belt and red ribbon in her hair, the singer had to make do with just one of the three awards she was up for, taking home the Artist's Award but losing out on the Best UK and Ireland Act gong to Must and the Most Addictive Track prize to Avril Lavigne for Girlfriend. But, hey - at least she turned up. Looking as good as this, it seems as though Ms. Winehouse is on the road to recovery.
