It may have been RIP Popworld on Sunday with the last ever installment screening, but Alexa certainly isn't letting the emotion of it all interfere with her fashionability. This outfit reminds us of this season's Chloé collection, with the block colour high-waist skirt and tucked-in simply cut tee. If we were her stylist we'd have made her take that jacket off though - is her next job office-based? We'd have suggested adding a splash of colour too, perhaps on the belt, but if the aim was to establish herself as a bona fide "grown-up", then this outfit's done the job.

Usually known for her skinny jean-wearing indie style, with this outfit Alexa proves that she can pull off understated glam. My attention is drawn to the accessorising; I love the mix of pearl, gold and diamante necklaces. Although the high-waist is still very much 'in', I think that the skirt could have been a bit more flattering as it makes her upper body look a little broad. Overall I think this outfit is a giant stylish step forward for Alexa.

Star Style Latest - Peaches' Favourite Dress

Hang about - is that Peaches Geldof wearing the same dress she wore the night before? Our spies spotted Mademoiselle Peaches out for lunch in London yesterday wearing a super-cute belted paisley-print dress under a classic mac and with wayfarer sunglasses - we looked at the pictures, we gave her the fashion thumbs up, and we went back to our skinny latte. But then, realisation set in - that's the exact same ouftit she wore to the Paul & Joe party the very night before! She may have swapped her neutral peep toe heels for a pair of black pumps, but you won't throw us that easily Geldof. Sir Bob will be pleased...though we expect Peaches is feeling pretty smug herself, having bagged herself such a nice dress. So nice in fact she's having trouble taking it off...

Trend Alert! Hi-Ho, It's To The Hoisery Department We Go

You should all be well-versed in next season's key trends by now (if not, watch out for our A/W trend round-up - coming soon!), and have gauged that block colour is going to be huuuuge. Well, here's our top trend tip (notepads at the ready...) - invest in a pair a coloured tights. Whether you wear them with your old faithful LBD or choose to mix things up and opt for clashing hues a la the Emilio Pucci collection, this is the easiest and most inexpensive way of wearing this trend. Bold ladies, such as Lizzie Jagger and Kimberly Stewart, will be daring and choose luminous hues, whilst the more conservative amongst you may opt for more muted shades like the lovely Fearne Cotton, or why not plump for classic grey in the style of Dasiy Lowe (the neutral shade for the season, FYI). And if you're feeling really brave, you could always dare to bear those legs and opt for socks with your heels as a cute, individual way of working the look. Aren't we helpful?

Star Style Latest - All Change for Keira and Paris

Fresh from speed-boating her way into Venice yesterday, it was a case of quick change for Keira  Knightley. The actress, in town for the premiere of new movie Atonement at the city's Film Festival, shed the outfit we pictured her in yesterday in order to take to the red carpet (arriving once again by boat, natch) in a nautical-themed floor length dress (but she's still wearing those Chanel pumps). We're loving the colour block detail - molto buono, Keira.

Meanwhile, another celeb undergoing a bit of a change is good old Paris Hilton. The heiress has seemingly foregone her ever-faithful hair extensions in favour of a short crop - and we have to say, we kinda like it. Out in Las Vegas last night at the Magic Show Convention (!?), Paris seemed to be modelling a tee from her own range (we assume this as it bears an emblem of her face and, as we reported recently, her collection was more than a little self-promotional - God love her). Definitely a fan of this look - although we'll have to see how long the party-girl lasts sans extensions...

Face of Fashion - Evan Rachel Wood

Is actress Evan Rachel Wood making a play for Dita Von Teese's crown as Queen of Old School Glamour? It would certainly seem that way. The 19-year old ex-girlfriend of Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell (she has a tiny 'j' tattooed on her lower leg as a lasting memory from their brief relationship) has perfected the 40's-reminiscent make-up that the Burlesque star wears as her trademark, appearing on many a red carpet all coiffed hair, flick-eyed and red-lipped. She's also got a wardrobe full 0f semi-prim, semi-fetish clothes and accessories that Ms. Von Teese would be proud to own, from the vamp-a-licious gowns to the towering patent heels to the belted and oh-so-proper mac. What's more, she's only gone and snared herself Dita's shock rocker ex-husband Marilyn Manson (and has caused quite a stir into the bargain, considering the 19 year age gap and the erotic opening to Manson's latest video featuring the young starlet). But don't be so quick to pass Evan off as a Dita-Clone - with singing credits in her next film Across the Universe, a campaign for Miu Miu under her belt and a passion for creativity (from poetry to painting to fashion) that means she is constantly growing in a late-adolescent effort to "find herself", we expect big things from this old soul glamour-puss.

Star Style Latest - Keira Sweeps Into Venice

Keira Knightley was the epitome of elegance yesterday as she motor-boated her way into the Venice Film Festival, where the world premiere of the 22-year old's new film Atonement will take place. Veering into the City of Water on a luxury speedboat, the actress wore a pair of uber-cool wayfarer sunglasses and the widest of grins, with her wind-swept hair billowing behind her. Upon stepping onto terra firma, she revealed a chic pair of high-waisted trousers, a cream boatneck top and an adorable of Chanel studded pumps. The British film, in which Keira stars alongside James McAvoy, has caused whisperings of award nominations amongst film buffs (including the ultimate gong - an Oscar) for both the film itself and Ms. Knightley's performance. We've certainly got everything crossed for you Keira - and we can't wait to see it.

Star Style Latest - All This Weekend's Outfits

What a weekend - with not two but three sun-filled days worth of gossip and outfits to catch up on, we're going to dive straight in...

This trio of beauties turned out for the annual American Teen Choice Awards, and added more than a good dollop of glamour to proceedings. We've concluded that Ms Jessica Alba would look ravishing in a wet, mouldy paper bag - even in the simplest of bandeau jersey dresses and block strap wedges, the actress looked every inch the World's Sexiest Woman (source: FHM). Elsewhere on the red carpet, is seems Hilary Duff has been quick to heed our advice - it was only last Friday that we predicted big things for sequins, and just two days later up turns Ms Duff dressed in a simple but effective sequin shift dress with plenty of gold bangles and studded wedges. On stage, Fergie wowed the crowd in a super-short bib-front dress (another trend we pre-empted - gosh we're good, aren't we?), and went on to pick up the "Female Artist" award - well done, Ms Black Eyed Peas.

Meanwhile over in Italy, Dita Von Teese was hanging out in Senigallia doing...actually, not much other than looking absolutely fantastic. But quite honestly, when you're as gorgeous as this we really don't blame her. In her polka dot dress, trademark red lipstick and the YSL Tribute shoes we absolutely adore, she's classic! A total Betty! (Did anyone else happen to watch Clueless on Film 4 last night??).

What's this? Is Sienna going back to her boho roots? No girls - it's not time to dig out that low-slung belt and maxi skirt just yet, as this ensemble was only in honour of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, who hosted the gypsy-themed "Woodfest" party on Friday at his central London home. Other starlets in attendance included band mate Mick's daughter Lizzie Jagger, songstress Beverly Knight...and Cilla Black. Oh, to be a fly on the wall at that party...

Trend Alert! Sequins

If there's one sure-fire way to guarantee all eyes are on you and only you, it's sequins. It's something the undisputed King of Glamour, Roberto Cavalli, is only too aware of judging by the dazzling sequinned tops and dresses he sent down his autumn/winter runway. And the good news is that sequins are no longer exclusive to evening wear, with sequinned boleros, tees and even hats adding glamorous touches to the most casual of looks - make like Paris and wear them with jeans. Where they make most impact however is on evening wear - whether you opt for a splattering of sequins like Scarlett Johansson, or full-on sparkle in an all-over sequin dress like Jade Jagger and Eva Mendes, the effect when light hits them is more striking than even the whitest of white Hollywood smiles. Go on - give 'em the old razzle dazzle.

Star Style Latest - Juliette Lewis at the Kerrang Awards

We have to admit - we have a bit of a girl crush on Juliette Lewis. Forget the Spice Girls, this lady is girl power incarnate. She decided at the age of 6 that she wanted to be an actress - by 12 she had achieved her dream, and went on to star in hit movies such as Martin Scorsese's Cape Fear (for which she received an Oscar nomination), What's Eating Gilbert Grape? and The Basketball Diaries, the latter two alongside a young Leonardo DiCaprio. Then, having conquered the world of film, she decided she wanted to be a rock star. Enter stage right Juliette and the Licks, the notoriously erratic band she now fronts, and it was in this capacity that she attended last night's Kerrang Awards in central London. Looking every inch the rock star in PVC trousers (another reason we think she's great - she's one of very few girls that can make this look seem like a good idea), a tie printed vest and a grey beanie hat. Ok, granted she's a little bit crazy. But that just makes us love her all the more.

We're not quite sure what we make of this. The colour is great on her, and really compliments her sunkissed skin (been on your hols, Rach?). However, the draped sections either side add bulk to her hips and the neckline certainly doesn't make the most of what we know is a great bust. As for the shoes - we weren't sure about the colour at first, but on second consideration we quite like the contrast of the pale pink - we would have preferred some round toe heels though. Beauty-wise, she gets it bang on - the black nail varnish works well against the blue of the dress, and a light dusting of blusher and a couple of coats of mascara are all she needs to make her look stunning, especially with everything else going on.

Lynsey Lowthian, 30, Medical Secretary from Sunderland

This outfit is a lesson in effortless elegance. Rachel mixes key styles; there's the ever popular Grecian style dress and in my colour of the moment, midnight blue - for me, this hue screams sophistication (it's a great alternative to black) and can be glammed up further with a few pieces of silver jewellery - though Rachel chooses to wear her bling on her clutch bag. In addition she's kept her cute T-bar shoes nude, which elongates her legs. All in all I like this a lot - this S Clubber has certainly grown up!

Star Style Latest - MOBO Nominations

The nominations for the annual MOBO (that Music of Black Origin, if you didn't know) took place last night, and a splattering of stars from the realms of TV, music and film turned out to hear who was up for what, including Rihanna, Jamelia...and Charley from Big Brother. Ahem. The two bona fide celebrities in this list dazzled in usual style though. Poor old Rihanna still has a broken foot as  we reported recently but, being a superstar and all, wasn't about to let a pesky little cast get in the way of looking stunning - she opted for a strappy black top, a satin puffball skirt and a single studded stiletto. Talk about working it. Homegrown songstress Jamelia looked a right skinny-minnie in a dazzling sequin stripe dress that clung to every womanly curve, finished with an elasticated waist belt and a pair of patent peep toe heels. Scheduled to take place on 19th September at London's O2 Arena, Jamelia will take to the stage to host the event along with reggae artist Shaggy, and Amy Winehouse leads the race for awards with four nominations - the girl could do with some good news at the moment. Well done, Ames!

Face of Fashion - Peaches Geldof

It's been a while since we've heard a squeak out of Peaches Geldof, so it was great to see her back to her partying ways last night, in the sweetest Peter Pan collar dolly jacket we've seen in a while. Not that we're surprised - in her few years as "Teen Scene Queen", she's worked a multitude of winning looks. From fifties sex kitten in a checked belted dress, to bohemian in her beloved Mina dresses, right through to red carpet royalty in fitted, curve-perfect evening dresses, Peaches always adds her own indie touch - be it Heidi plaits, black nail varnish or a headband. Her beauty regime is typical of the cool Camden crowd she courts - full, blunt fringe or messy long waves, porcelain skin and plenty of black kohl. This fashion magazine writing, Ibiza DJ-ing, TV presenting Rock Kid is growing up - and we like what we see.

Star Style Latest - Mena's Close Shave

Mena Suvari has become the latest lovely lady in LaLa Land to forego her long locks in favour of a shaved head. The American Beauty actress is said to have reached for the razor back in June when she was in Spain shooting new movie The Garden of Eden, her role in which required she cut her hair. We have to say, that's certainly some commitment to your job - for most girls, us included, our hair is our pride and joy, our one redeeming factor on abysmal days, and something to hide behind on less that perfect skin days. That said, Mena manages to pull of the look by keeping her outfit ultra-feminine - we love her big embroidered bag and simple sun dress - and is helped by the fact that she has delicate, pretty features, something that helped fellow head-shearers Natalie Portman and Demi Moore pull off the look (and something poor old Britney obviously failed to consider when she buzzed herself). Shaving your head, and thereby foregoing a key symbol of your femininity, is the ultimate in girl power - and so we've got a lot of respect for the girl.

I Want, I Need, I Love - Fashion First Aid

If there's one thing we have in common with celebrities, it's logistical fashion nightmares. Yes, that halterneck, criss-cross, tie side, low back, cut out dress may be to die for, but how on earth does one go about arranging her bosom in it? Do we wear a bra or not?? It's a real problem - we just thank the heavens we don't have pesky magazines on hand to stamp a big red circle on us when the unthinkable happens. But, thanks to those clever people at Fashion First Aid, such trials and tribulations can be banished to the Land of Underwear Hell Past. Star Style Latest - Ugly Betty DVD Launch

Ladies, prepare to say "adios" to your weekends. And evenings. And pretty much any free time you have. We were the absolute biggest Ugly Betty fans, but its Friday at 9pm time slot on Channel 4 meant we missed more episodes than we saw - if only we could work out how that darn Sky+ box works. Thank goodness then that last night saw the DVD launch of Ugly Betty - The Complete First Season; The Bettified Edition. We plan on spending the next few weeks ploughing through all 23 episodes - addling the good, bad and downright ugly outfits, laughing at the over-the-top plot lines and willing Betty and Henry to get together with every bit of our being. Happy times. For last night's launch and party in West Hollywood, star of the show America Ferrera proved that she's certainly no ugly Betty, in a great high-waisted skirt, bright green crocheted top and killer Louboutin heels. What a beauty.

What's Hot, What's Not - Your Weekly Guide to Cool

1 - Keira for Chanel

Have you seen the latest ads for the Chanel perfume Coco Mademoiselle? Starring Keira Knightly stripped bare with nothing but a bowler hat (going to be big next season, along with top hats - we swear!), a necklace and a discarded shirt to protect her modesty, the ads are sure to cause a stir - not least amongst the men of the population.

2 - Heath Ledger

As if we didn't love this hottie enough already - now news reaches us that Heath Ledger saved Maggie Gyllenhaal from going up in a blaze of flames. The pair were filming the new Batman movie, Dark Knight, together when a special effects generator fell over, setting Maggie's skirt on fire - thankfully Heath was on hand to put the fire out which, according to a eye-witness, was incredibly lucky as the actress could have been "seriously injured". Ooh, we've come over all funny imagining Heath in a fireman's uniform...

1 - The Return of the Football Season

Football has been back in the hearts of our men-folk for just over a week now, and that means less room in there for us. Suddenly we find ourselves alone on Saturday afternoon shopping trips and unable to get anywhere near the remote on whilst Match of the Day is on. But hang on - that means shopping in peace, with no one moaning that their feet hurt or exclaiming that we can't possibly be considering spending that much money on a pair of shoes. And an excuse to vacate the house and hit the town with our friends every Saturday night. Hell, we've got this all wrong - this should be in the "Hot" list!

2 - Stiletto Fun Run

Yes, you read that right - the first German Glamour magazine stiletto 100m dash took place in Berlin over the weekend, with 100 Glamour readers taking part. The rules stated that heels height must be at least 7cm and heels could be no thicker than 1.5cm. Hmm - glamorous women dashing here, there and everywhere in killer heels? Sounds like an average day in the office to us...

3 - New Season Panic

Now, we can't help feel that fashion's been a tad unfair to us. Having let us spend practically an entire year hiding every last lump and bump under an ever so forgiving smock  top or sack dress, all of a sudden it springs a incredibly body-con season upon us, full of fitted tailoring, cinched in waists and teeny-weeny dresses. Cue panic - we've hit the gym, maintained a diet similar to that of a rabbit and measured our waist on almost an hourly basis. One inch down, only about, oh we don't know, TWENTY MILLION to go. We're exhausted - pass us the pizza...

Star Style Latest - All This Weekend's Outfits - V Festival Special

Good old V Festival - it never fails to deliver a good dose of unabashed, old fashioned fun. With none of the musical pretension other festivals can be prone to (where else would you find the likes of the Foo Fighters and McFly performing at the same event?) good times are guaranteed - as these VIP pass holders would no doubt agree...

It was mostly a case of "same old festival crowd", headed by the lovely Lily Allen who performed at the event. Lil's obviously heard the rumour that grey will once again be big next season (particularly on nails - you heard it here first), as she sported not one but two great grey outfits - we're particularly fond of the abstract colour block frock on the right, which she changed into after arriving in a vest-and-high-waisted-skirt-over jeans number. She's obviously still working the neon trend as well, with bright pink lips in the picture on the left and a florescent yellow microphone for her set - too cool.

Supermodel Erin O'Connor did her best Dexy's Midnight Runners (of Come On Eileen fame) impression, yet irritatingly her dungarees-headscarf-vest-n-bra combo seemed to work. A nice practical pair of wellies and a touch of bling in the form of a great swallow necklace completed her festival look.

We have to say, we're loving Sophie Ellis Bextor's use of clashing colours of late. Here she turns what is essentially a good but basic outfit of knitted grey (we told you it was big) dress and black jacket into an interesting, winning look with a lilac headband, pink wellies, coral lip colour and white nails. Love the chunky gold necklace and black waist belt detail too.

Star Style Latest - Paris Launches Clothing Collection

It was only a matter of time really - having conquered (we're using the term loosely, you understand) the realms of acting, recording, publishing, modelling, nightclub-owning and professional socialising, Paris Hilton last night launched her own clothing range at über-trendy LA boutique Kitson. Having worked a "Butter Wouldn't Melt" image since her brush with the law, Paris returned to top LA It Girl form for the launch, in a dazzling oversize gold sequinned dress and a pair of killer heels. We've had a sneak peak at the collection (see below), which features a tee emblazoned with the heiress' face, a bandeau top we spotted her in a few weeks back, and a tee printed with the words "luv thy self" - she's obviously been taking her own advice. We look forward to seeing the rest of the collection though, and seeing what the entrepreneur does next - Paris for President?

We say -

Kylie does a Marilyn - and we love it! The Aussie poppet rarely gets it wrong when it comes to occasion wear (with friends that include the likes of Dolce and Gabbana, we should think not!) as this stunning frock proves. The ruching at the chest creates the illusion of a full bust and the metallic waist section is very on-trend, whilst the strappy heels (you can just about see them through the dress) add some much needed height, essential when wearing a full-length dress, and the curls piled on top are fun - something she seems to be having plenty of, judging from the massive grin on her face. Happy anniversary to you, Ms. Minogue.

It's great to see Kylie back in the goddess style she seems to love. She wore a similar Grecian-style gown to her birthday party a few years back, so she knows she looks heavenly in this style. Star Style Latest - Ashlee Goes Back to School

You'll no doubt have noticed all the "Back to School" signs in the likes of BHS' window whilst out and about recently. Weren't those days the best? Personally, we always got ultra-excited when the new school term approached, because it meant one blow-out shopping trip (on mum's credit card too - thems definitely were the days). A new everything was essential - school skirt, pencil case, pens, pencils and pencil sharpener to go in the new pencil case, shoes (Kickers or Pods, no doubt - oh dear!), backpack, PE kit - come the first Monday in September we really did believe this was going to be the year we paid attention to what out teachers were telling us, did our homework on time and generally morphed into a model student. Never quite happened like that though, did it? Still, it's fun to reminisce - a sentiment Ashlee Simpson evidently shares with us, as she attended the Seventeen Magazine "Back to School" party in LA yesterday (remember the UK equivalent, J-17? Oooh, we're having a right old trip down memory lane today!). Looking spookily like an Olsen twin, and definitely more St. Trinian madam than Top Swot in her pointy red stilettos, black shirt dress over leggings and trilby hat, the 22-year old songstress is the cover star of the magazine's latest issue (which, if our memory serves us well, probably features articles like "Make Him Fancy You - Try Our Love Spells", "Zap Those Zits" and "Cringe-tastic - Your Most Embarrassing Stories" - actually, not much changes does it?).

Face of Fashion - Daisy Lowe

Ok, just to get you up to speed, Daisy is a DJ, fashion designer and model, with shoots for W and Italian Vogue under her belt. She's also the daughter of uber-cool designer and one time musician Pearl Lowe (ex-member of the Jude Law/Sadie Frost Primrose Hill set). Her estranged father is Gavin Rossdale (of Bush, now married to Gwen Stefani) while her stepfather is Danny Goffey (of Supergrass). Phew. All pretty rock 'n' roll, so it's no surprise she's got style to match. Whether at an opening, or backstage at London fashion week, Daisy's look is all about 'don't give a damn' Camden-esque cool (think stripes, volume and the latest designer accessories). We love it.

Star Style Latest - Mama Richie

Expectant parents Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were out and about in Manhattan yesterday, with Nicole still doing her very best to hide her growing baby bump. And despite wearing what looked to be one of Joel's jumpers, and not a scrap of make up, Miss Richie showed no sign of impending 'mumsiness' - with her long legs on display, bright red nails and designer accessories. She's destined to be a glam mum, that one.

Oh, the Chloè Paddington Bag -  an iconic fashion accessory, a work of art, an absoute must-have (actually the same could be said of any of their gorgeous range, but that's beside the point). Seen hanging from the arm of every starlet from here to Hollywood, it's tres desirable. Shame about the £795 price tag then - there's a reason that it's ultra-exclusive, you know. So, if you just fall short of being able to afford the bag, take a look at the Chloè Paddington Purse. Featuring the same distinctive padlock as the bag and in the very softest leather (in black or, our favourite, tan - below), it's a slice of the high-life at a fraction of the price (£280 to be precise - much more pay-packet friendly, thank you very much). Star Style Latest - Mischa and Nicole are Buds!

'Ello 'ello 'ello - what's going on here then? The last thing we heard (and, to be honest, it's all been rather difficult to keep up with, so bear with us) Mischa Barton and Nicole Richie weren't friends. In fact, Mischa had even gone on the record to distance herself from Nicole, Paris et al, or the "Young Hollywood" crowd as they have been called. In an interview she was quoted as saying "...the media has created a fake 'young Hollywood' where everyone hangs out together and everybody knows each other. It couldn't be further from the truth. I feel so, so different from those girls." So then, imagine our surprise when we saw this snap of the girls together yesterday, out for coffee like they were the best of friends. Perhaps Nicole's new "Holier Than Thou" image inspired Mischa to repair the relationship. Whatever the story, the girls both looked fantastic for their trip to Starbucks - Nicole managed to disguise her baby bump in a simple jersey halterneck dress and, can we just say, we ADORE Mischa's colour block dress. It looks as though she could have done with a touch of SPF on those legs though - ouch.

1 - The X Factor

No, we don't mean that somethin' somethin' that certain celebs have, others are sadly lacking - we literally mean ITV's The X Factor. It's back on our screens again this Saturday and we absolutely can't wait - it's our guilty pleasure. You may call us sad now, but once the dark, cold nights start to draw in (approx. one month, we reckon) then we have no doubt you'll love nothing more than a cosy night in watching it. And what's not to love - Simon's wicked tongue. Louis' consistently unfunny jokes. Sharon's uncomfortable flirting with underage boys. Plus, Dannii Minogue joins the judges this year - and seeing as though Louis made some pretty cutting remarks about big sis Kylie, it's certain to be an interesting show.

2 - Leather Jackets

Now that we've started to turn our attention to next season's trends, we're getting distinctly excited about the new, smart mood that runs through all of A/W's looks. One piece that will be absolutely key to our wardrobe is a leather jacket, so we were over the moon when the Lindsay Scalloped Leather Jacket, a previous best seller, arrived back on the site. 3 - Daring to Look Ridiculous

She's 6 foot. He's 5'4". But that hasn't stopped love blossoming between model Sophie Dahl and jazz hobbit Jamie Cullum. The pair have been snapped on various occasions over the last few weeks looking sickeningly loved up - and oddly matched, considering the substantial height difference. How does kissing standing up work? Does she have to stoop?? We don't know, but the pairing has got us thinking - are we way too fussy when it comes to the other sex? Maybe if we gave that guy with the wonky nose / funny shaped hands / too small Adam's apple (delete or add as appropriate) a chance, it'd work out? C'mon ladies, it's time to let your guard down - if Sophie can, we can.

1 - Christmas in August

Now, we're no Scrooge. In fact we love Christmas. But...there are 134 days left until Christmas Day. One. Hundred. And. Thirty. Four. So why-oh-why is the Harrod's Christmas store open already!? The grand opening took place last week, complete with a Santa Claus and fake snow - as if Londoners aren't confused enough about what season they're in...

2 - Flip Flop Rage

Now that the sun is sporadically shining, those flip flops that had been hiding at the back of our wardrobe have finally seen the light of day. Hurrah! But our sun spirit is seriously dampened by pesky people stamping on the back of our flip-flops - not cool, mister.

3 - Lockdown on Facebook

It's an internet phenomenon, a website used the world over - and a brilliant way of whittling away the hours of a particularly dreary Monday afternoon. But alas! Alack! The powers that be are blocking our beloved Facebook. Those pesky so-and-sos in IT are seriously messing with our social networking - it's just not on...

Star Style Latest - All This Weekend's Outfits

"Let me ask you, darling - where does one summer?"

"Oh, sweetie - the list is so long! St. Tropez, the Côte d'Azur, Monaco, my villa in Ibiza - and the Hamptons, natch"

For superstars everywhere, the Hamptons - just outside of NYC - are a must-visit holiday destination. Everybody who's anybody holidays there, and if you're lucky enough to own a property there  well, you've officially made it. No surprise then that starlets Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen plus Mischa Barton turned out for the Hampton Social, an exclusive music event for the rich and famous, held this weekend in East Hampton. And, of course, they ensured they looked the part.

Ashley Olsen turned heads in a great high-waisted skirt, black tuxedo jacket and a thick waist belt - all of which will see her stylishly into next season. Meanwhile, twin sis MK Olsen (who arrived and posed for the paps separately from her sister, being as that they're attempting to establish themselves as "individuals") continued the glam-goth look she's been working for a while now, in a black trilby, black off the shoulder tee, painted black nails and lashings of black kohl, all offset by her bright blonde locks - what will the neighbours say!?

Conversely, Mischa kept things cool and casual in printed vest top (with pockets - lordie, they all read the ASOS.com blog, don't they?), skinny jeans and a great pair of flat strappy sandals. Tres Hamptons-Chic, Missy.

Hey, how did Mischa get back over to Malibu so quickly!? Oh, our mistake - it's not Mischa, it's just Nicky Hilton doing her best Ms. Barton impersonation. Looking more than a little like the OC beauty, Nicky attended sister Paris' beach party wearing a pair of cut-off shorts, vest top, casual cardigan and flip flops, plus a trilby hat (surely Mischa has trademarked trilbies by now?). Top marks for the Louis Vuitton bag though - we like.

But our favourite snap from this weekend has to be this beauty - Kelly Osbourne and the disc-spinning drag queen extraordinaire Jodie Harsh (genius bit of word play) leaving the Soho Revue after their joint DJ set. Both look suitably glamorous - coiffed hair, check; sequined frock, check. But is that a Sainsbury's bag we see swinging from your arm, Jodie? Not our usual choice of evening bag, we have to say...

Love it. TPT has been known to get it wrong in the past, but this outfit totally works. She ensures she balances out an über-short skirt by covering up on top, the colour is a.m.a.z.i.n.g and she's got those shoes - the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Mary Janes, as loved by Victoria Beckham, Gwen Stefani and pretty much everyone here in the office. And she accessories with a couple of Selfridges bags - the girl's got style (or money - it's not necessarily the same thing, remember!). The only things I'd recommend leaving at home are the sunglasses - it's approximately 11pm, love.

I really, really love the colour of this dress - I've read that purple is going to be big next season, and this shade suits her well. But whilst I'm all for working the new trends before they touch down - a polo neck? In August? Even if it has been raining, it's still pretty warm - she must have been sticky. She's still smiling though, and with a pair of legs like that - emphasised by a pair of killer black patent heels - I would be too. Not bad at all.

Star Style Latest - Art Attack, featuring Kate Nash and Kelly-O

It's not often that the worlds of art and celebrity collide. But when the artists on show are two of the  absolute coolest, everyone who's anyone scrambles for a ticket. And that's just what happened last night at Covent Garden's exclusive member's club The Hospital, which hosted Warhol vs Banksy,  an exhibition of some of the finest and most renowned pieces of work by the two notorious artists. In case you're not familiar with their stuff, let us give you a brief art lesson - remember the infamous painting of a can of Campbell's Tomato Soup? That was Warhol. And years later, Banksy created his own version - a picture of a can of Tesco Value Soup. Brilliant. In a similar vein - and for those culture vultures amongst you - we've sat Warhol's legendary print of Marilyn Monroe against Banksy's updated version, featuring Kate Moss, so you can decide which artist you prefer. Of the starlets in attendance at last night's bash were the latest "Hot Young Thing", Kate Nash, and Kelly Osbourne. Kate looked amazing in a beige dress that suited her colouring perfectly, paired with a black belt (she's on to next season's trend for waists already), black peep toe shoes and a red shoulder bag that added a great jolt of colour to the outfit - and, can we just say, we love the pleating on her dress! A newly-slender Ms Osbourne also opted for a shade of beige, although unfortunately she chose to wear a mac on what has to be one of the hottest days of the summer so far. Still, this event wasn't about fashion - it was all about the art, sweedie.

Trend Alert! Hats

If this isn't a winning trend we'll eat our hat...celebs everywhere are donning the hottest of hats, and we know why. From hiding not-so-perfect hair on days when an extra 20 minutes in bed is much more appealing than the rigmarole that is washing your hair to keeping the sun off your face to simply adding an extra edge to your outfit, hats have a multitude of uses. And with so many style to choose from, it would be impossible to tire of this trend. Having featured heavily on the catwalks of Proenza Schouler, DKNY and Ralph Lauren, current celebrity favourites include the slouchy beanie, seen on The OC chums Rachel Bilson and Mischa Barton, cowboy hats à la Ashley Olsen, good old baker boys, favoured by Posh, and the ever-popular trilby, as modelled by Mischa (she loves a good hat, that girl). Invest in a hat or three and you'll have yourself a perennial style staple - and (forgive us) hat's no joke.

Star Style Latest - Kirsten's Leg Lengthening Tricks

Forget the fact that she's currently shooting new movie How To Lose Friends and Alienate People - out in New York yesterday, Kirsten Dunst seemed to be keen to deliver a lesson in How to Lengthen Legs and Arouse Awe in People. Whilst the Californian actress isn't exactly short at 5'7", in her line of work she's in competition with some of the leggiest ladies in Hollywood (including Maggie Gyllenhaal  at 5'9", Liv Tyler at 5'10" and Nicole Kidman at a towering 5'11" to name but a few). And so it seems Kirsten has taken to employing a few "tricks" in order to lengthen those pins. Trick Number 1 - wear the teeny tiniest pair of shorts you can get your hands on - the shorter the better. Team with a simple t-shirt and off-duty sunglasses to ensure maximum focus on the legs is achieved. Trick Number 2 - keep those legs in tip-top condition - lots of lunges will help. And speaking of lunges...Trick Number 3 - widen that stride! The longer your step the longer your legs will appear. It's working for Kirsten, and it's certainly working for us - we're very impressed by Ms Dunst's luscious legs.

I Want, I Need, I Love - Patricia Field for ASOS.com

 

Patricia Field's fashion credentials are impressive to say the least. If you need convincing of this fact, let's recap - not only did she style Sarah Jessica Parker et al for Sex and the City (creating an unprecedented fashion phenomenon in Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte's wardrobes, making Manolo Blahnik a household name and winning an Emmy for costume design in the process), Patricia also owns two of New York's hippest, most successful boutiques that are a first port of call for many of the city's fashionistas in a style emergency. Star Style Latest - Mischa Goes Brunette!

We almost choked on our cornflakes this morning when we saw these snaps of Mischa Barton out for lunch in New York's Greenwich Village. The London-born beauty has eschewed her usual sun-kissed golden locks for a deep, rich chocolate brown. Set against her English Rose skin tone, the look is certainly striking. But fear not! The actress' new hair colour is not permanent, but simply a requirement of her new film, Finding t.a.T.u, which she is currently shooting and in which she plays a Russian who falls in love with an American girl at a t.a.T.u concert (yes, that's the faux-lady lovers of 2002's All The Things She Said fame - we kid you not). Taking a break from filming, Mischa looked great in a green printed maxi dress, a chunky gold necklace and flat summer sandals. In the spirit of her new movie - we sooo love you, Mischa!

Face of Fashion - Bee Shaffer

It shouldn't be difficult to look good when you're American Vogue editor Anna Wintour's daughter, therefore having access to next season's collections long before they show, every designer worth knowing on speed dial and a bevy of fashion friends only too willing to dress you. Still, it's testament to 19-year old Bee Shaffer that she is generally considered a nice, well-mannered young women, unlike her mother who is rumoured to be infamously cold and unfriendly (remember The Devil Wears Prada? Meryl Streep's character is said to be based on Ms. Wintour). Bee's certainly made a name for herself in fashion circles, with contributions to TeenVogue and The Daily Telegraph's blog under her belt, plus regular front-row appearances (usually alongside her mother) at fashion's hottest catwalk shows - Marc Jacobs, Dior and Chanel to name but a few. Rarely seen in anything but a dress (there are rumours that she went though a "jeans-and-jumper" phase upon starting university, although these are yet to be substantiated), her style is youthful, polished and oh-so-chic. Her porcelain skin, heavy eyebrows (so next season) and long, shiny mane are testament to her good breeding, and her enviable collection of dresses and heels illustrate how well-connected she is. Definitely a name you'll Bee (we couldn't help ourselves) hearing more of in the future.

Star Style Latest - Ho! Sienna's In Ibiza

What's a girl to do when the British summer is lame, lame, lame? Hot-foot it to the hottest party around, that's what. Sienna Miller jetted into party-island Ibiza this week to hit P Diddy's party at the DC1o club. She was snapped heading to the bash looking every inch the party girl with shaggy hair and wearing cut-off shorts, a vest top and a beaded bikini top. And, being Sienna, she accessorised perfectly with white aviators, a tan bag, snakeskin boots and plenty of bracelets. After partying hard all night, Sienna emerged from the club along with Diddy's entourage - and our spies tell us that the two stars headed back to Sienna's hotel together. Could they be the newest (and hottest, might we add) celebrity couple to emerge? Rumours have been circulating regarding the pair's "closeness" since early this year, when the rap mogul was still with his baby mama and girlfriend of of 10 years, Kim Porter. However, since the pair split in July the rumour mill has gone into overdrive, fuelled by repeated sightings of the pair. And news of yesterday's foray will only add fuel to the fire, we think...

1 - Sarah Jessica Parker

The truly lovely Sarah Jessica Parker graces the cover of ELLE this month, working next season's trend for bright, block colours in a hot yellow dress. With the Sex and the City movie in production (altogether now girls - hurrah!) and a new fragrance, Covet, on shelves, our love affair with SJP has been re-ignited. We're so very excited to hear her utter the immortal words "I couldn't help but wonder..." again.

2 - Getting the hottest new designers before any of our friends

3 - Reunions

Our spies in LA tell us that our very own Robbie Williams recently met with former Take That-ers Mark Owen and Gary Barlow (yes, that's Gaz Barlow - the Robster's sworn enemy) for a drink at trendy Chateau Marmont - could there be a full-five reunion on the cards? Also sparking rumours of a reunion in LA are Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, who have been spotted out running, shopping and lunching together (please, PLEASE say this is true!). Meanwhile on this side of the pond, Chantelle and Preston have kept tongues wagging by releasing a statement calling time on their 10-month marriage, and then being snapped all over town together. What's the dealio, guys?

1 - Stating the Obvious

Nicole Richie appeared on American TV network ABC confirming to Diane Sawyer that she is in fact pregnant. "I am. We are. I'm almost four months" she said. Two words - WE. KNOW! Still, we loved the oversize cowl neck top she wore for the appearance - best of luck, Mommy Richie.

2 - Crutches

Poor old Rihanna - first her single Umbrella gets knocked off the number one spot by Timberland (not that it's ten-week stint at the top spot didn't deserve to come to an end), and then she literally gets knocked off her stilettos and does herself an injury. The R'n'B star was snapped out shopping on a pair of crutches - not exactly the hottest accessory right now, but at least she still managed a smile.

3 - Sunburn

We're ecstatic that the sun came out this weekend (obv). We're not so happy about neglecting to pack anything remotely containing an SPF in our bag - lobster red is not the colour du jour.

Star Style Latest - All This Weekend's Outfits

Whilst the entire British population rushed to their back garden/local park/nearest beach to enjoy the only nice weekend of the summer so far, those lucky beggars in California soaked up the ever-present rays of sun at their abundance of beaches. Paris Hilton was one such lucky so-and-so, hosting a party at her beach house in Malibu. Wearing a pair of super-short shorts, gold ballet pumps and what is rapidly becoming her trademark beachwear, a cutout swimsuit, the heiress looked bronzed and relaxed.

Meanwhile over in London, Kylie was one of those people rushing to enjoy the British sunshine - she headed out on Sunday afternoon to enjoy lunch with friends in central London. Having danced until 4am the night before at a party celebrating the 20-year anniversary of her first single, The Locomotion, the popstress looked fresh as a daisy in a great patterned maxi dress, hoop earrings, an oversize tan leather bag and big sunglasses (hiding the bags, no doubt).
