Star Style Watch - All This Weekend's Outfits
Phew - what a weekend it's been! With Valentino celebrating 45 years in fashion (hailed as potentially the greatest event in fashion history) and Live Earth taking place all over the world, there's been plenty to keep up with. As always, we bring you the best of the weekend's outfits...
You'd have to have been living under a rock this weekend to have missed the musical extravaganza that was Live Earth. Concerts took place at 11 locations across the globe, intended to raise awareness of climate change and to encourage people to lead more environmentally friendly lifestyles. We'll definitely be following these lovely ladies' example, eco- and fashion-wise...
We're sure Cameron D and Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas had men everywhere pledging allegiance to the planet as they did their bit for the cause (Cameron introducing an act and Fergie performing with the Peas) in the shortest of shorts. Cameron paired her button-trim hotpants with a simple denim jacket and sky-high wedges, whilst Fergie went for a printed tee, waistcoat and a fantastic pair of studded sandals.
James Blunt's ex Petra Nemcova worked one of the season's hottest trends to introduce an act at the New York gig - the jumpsuit. The super-sexy model opted for a button-through, balloon-shaped black number - great if you've got the body of a goddess, not so great for us mere mortals. We'll be opting for a more figure-friendly style.
There was only one woman that could have closed the London show - resident Londoner Madonna took to the stage to deliver an almighty performance. She began her set in a black trilby and great black dress, which was promptly ripped off once the beat of Hung Up kicked in to reveal a skin-tight pair of leggings - proving the are here to stay for the time being, no matter what the fashion press may say.
Whilst all this do-gooding was going on, fashion designer Valentino hosted an altogether more self-indulgent event - three days of partying to mark 45 years in the business. Starlets of the highest calibre turned out for the festivities in Rome and, of course, looked suitably fabulous...
Supermodel Elle "The Body" MacPherson showed off her famous figure to perfection in this terrific day outfit - a simple strapless black dress decorated with huge earrings, aviators and a great pair of jewelled flat sandals.
Actress Eva Mendes showed off not one but two stunning outfits. We absolutely love her gold all-over-sequin dress, paired with leopard print heels, which complimented her tanned skin perfectly. Then it was a quick change into a full length black column dress, teamed with an oversized clutch bag (the accessory for A/W we hear) and a big grin. With a wardrobe like this, wouldn't you be laughing?
No fashion event would be complete without an appearance from Sarah Jesscia Parker, recently voted the most influential fashionista in the world (alongside Kate). SJP was her fabulous self in this floor-length black dress complete with train. The outfit was finished with her trademark brooch, a stack of black bangles and a black clutch.
Sienna was left to fly the flag for us Brits, and fly it she did in this fitted, scoop neck feathered number in Valentino red (the designer's signature colour). Teamed with scraped back hair and matching red lipstick, the starlet looked a million miles from her usual quirky self and every inch the A-list actress. Maybe it's just us, but with that figure-hugging dress and those heavy eyebrows we can't help but think she looks more than a little Kate Winslet-y...
